36024: Beryl variety Aquamarine - $14 TeĆ³filo Otoni, Minas Gerais, Brazil Miniature - 4.3 x 3.3 x 1.9 cm 26 grams Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A highly translucent, naturally etched
beryl crystal, with enough residual blue color to
rightfully be labeled as aquamarine. Although numerous
collectors eschew etched crystals, we must remember that
such crystals illustrate a significant part of mineral
crystal growth. Crystal formation is a reversible,
equilibrium process; the same fluids which deposit a
crystal can also dissolve this crystal. This specimen
records a time at which dissolution had begun, but the
crystal had not yet been fully consumed and lost forever.
Incomplete on the back where removed from matrix (or
cobbed from cutting rough) but otherwise great condition.
