A hemispherical sample of black volcanic glass, from the ancient lava flows east of Barstow, California. This example is unusual in that it does not appear glassy (it has a dull surface) and has not been sawn or chipped; it is a complete 'bomb'. On the roughly flat on the base (presumably where it was attached to the matrix) we see scattered, small inclusions of a colorless and unidentified mineral. One of these inclusions has a distinctly rectangular shape. Previous collection label gives a 1987 collection or acquisition date.
