This tourmaline crystal has a gorgeous triangular form, with flat termination and slightly beveled edges. The color is very dark green to black in reflected light, but when lit from behind we see the top few mm of the crystal, at the termination is a beautiful, transparent green. (The green zone is better than my lousy photo suggests.) This dark-to-transparent color transition is quite common in tourmalines from Stak Nala, and rare for other localities. A partial, colorless and transparent quartz crystal plus minor muscovite attests to the pegmatite origin for this specimen. The tourmaline crystal is pristine. Currently mounted on an acrylic base from which it is easily removed if desired.
