The matrix is generously peppered with opaque, purple-red corundum crystals (some complete; others not so much) to 7.5 mm. These corundums display deep red fluorescence under longwave UV. Although this material is often labeled as ruby, I prefer to avoid that term when the corundum isn't gemmy. Tiny patches of a deep green micaeous mineral - probably muscovite variety fuchsite - are also present. Several nice display angles not requiring external support are possible.
