30894: Stilbite, Microcline, and Tourmaline
Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande District, San Diego County, California
Small cabinet - 8.3 x 5.1 x 3.2 cm (3.3 x 2.0 x 1.3 inches)
166 grams (0.37 pounds)
Specimen status: Sold

One face of a  blocky microcline crystal is nearly completely covered by small, stilbite crystals (first and last photos). One microcline face is rather smooth and glassy (second photo) while the others are somewhat pitted and etched, as is typical for microcline from this locality. A few small tourmaline crystals are also present. Stilbite was never common at the Himalaya Mine, and this is a great association specimen for the locality. No damage.
