A classic Knoxville calcite, with the matrix nearly covered (except the base) with dark brown, translucent to opaque, somewhat glassy calcite rhombs to about 5 mm. Scattered around the base calcite layer are scattered, colorless scalenohedral calcite (a second generation) as singles and clusters. The calcite is accented with scattered, sparse and tiny marcasite crystals. Displays perfectly as shown without external support. No damage.
