Although grown in a lab, this remains a spectacular crystal cluster, consisting of very deep blood red, transparent potassium ferricyanide crystals. The color explodes dramatically when the specimen is backlit (last photo). The largest individual crystal sprouts to more than 5 cm from a core cluster of smaller crystals. Potassium ferricyanide is water-soluble, so the entire cluster was given some sort of colorless coating by the person who prepared it. Sits beautifully for display without needing a stand. No damage. This cluster will add some red to your mineral cabinet! Its origin doesn't reduce its appeal or beauty. Sometimes called 'pruskite', as if this was a natural mineral, but this material -- if it does occur naturally -- is exceptionally rare and simply unheard of in crystals this size.
