This highly unusual specimen consists of gray, metallic, very sparkly microcrystalline hematite having several caverns, and hosting hundreds (if not thousands) of tiny, also sparkling transparent to opaque topaz crystals. These topaz crystals reach about 4 mm in length. Has a myriad of display angles which do not require a stand. A few very small bald areas are noted but these are simply lost in the entirety of this sparkly, sculptural, and aesthetic specimen. A search of Thomas Range mineral photos on Mindat reveals that specular hematite is quite common but this size and exceptionally rich hematite/topaz association is quite unusual.
