Brown, earthy to fuzzy (meta)hewettite balls partially coated with a gray gypsum crust. The hydrated calcium vanadate hewettite - CaV6O16·9H2O and its dehydrated analog metahewettite - CaV6O16·3H2O cannot be differentiated visually, and both may be present. Species identification based on previous dealer label. From an obscure uranium mine for which Mindat has just one mineral specimen image.
