| 13517: Calcite and Gypsum - $38 Santa Eulalia Mining District, Aquiles Serdán Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico Small cabinet - 8.7 x 5.9 x 3.7 cm 148 grams Fluorescent (SW) Specimen status: Available Send an email with specimen number to order A slightly curved cluster of colorless
to brown calcite scalenohedral ('dogtooth') crystals, with
individuals reaching to 3 cm. These calcites are mostly
covered with icy gypsum, giving the appearance of a
late-spring ice storm (albeit somewhat gray ice). Under
shortwave UV, the bottom of the calcite layer glows and
bright orange whereas the gypsum produces a modest, neon
green. Overall condition of the specimen is very nice.
